Christmas it's coming soon, this year goes really fast! How many think the same? I want to know about your traditions, what do you do on that special time of the year, many people used to buy gifts, travel to see their families, friends or their couple.
Personally I hate to go out this time of the year, because outside everybody is crazy, the malls are full because a lot of people likes to go shopping and the cashiers are very stress and sometimes they get confused and people in the lines gets angry.
The airports always are more recurrents on this season, everybody buy tickets to fly but they are too expensive don't you think?
Let me tell you what my family and I do:
1. We try to be all together and buy the things to prepare dinner, sometimes my mother cook tamales or pierna, my sisters participate in the kitchen a lot.
2. About the gifts, we prefer to buy everything in November or in January because my whole family hates crowded places.
3. During the night of december 24th we are all together, we have dinner and give thanks to God for everything, specially for the gift of family, we talk about everything and when the day ends at 12:00 am we burn fireworks with my whole family !!!! It's the most greatfull time.
Well everybody came from differents families, cultures and traditions so... why don't you share what do you do on christmas?
Hello Johans! Thank you for allowing us to welcome the Christmas season. I really love Christmas. In fact, we decorated our house the weekend, at least inside. My little one has been very excited with the tree and the train (with chocolates). She has been inviting her friends to eat chocolates.
ReplyDeleteI´m agree with you about people get crazy with shopping, travels and parties. I don´t like that the places, restaurants and malls are so full, I prefer to buy before too! in order to avoid that crazy lines to buy.
My family used to celebrate this seasons like this:
1. We procure to be together, although we have to be one year with my husband´s family and the other one with mine.
2. We let's go to the church to thank God for His birth, His forgiveness and His blessings.
3. We eat tamales or turkey at 12 hrs.
4. We burn some stars and fireworks.
This year we have a different plan, we are going to travel to a Disney Cruise :o) Yeiiiii!!! and to Delaware to visit my sister in law. We are going to be there in this beautiful season. We are very happy.

ReplyDeleteNice topic Johans. For me it´s a very happy because I grew up having unforgettable christmas night´s at my granpa´s house in Quetzaltenango.
ReplyDeleteBut in my case my house is the metting point, so at the end it is a crowded night at home, but it´s once a year and we enjoy it. We use to have christmas dinner at 9:00 because of my father in law and others that leave early that night. After that we play some fireworks outside, we cheated and at 12 pm my doughter becomes in Santa Close and announce the presents, we take pictures of each gift delivery. Every body open the presents, and they began leaving at 1 or 2 am.
The most important of that night is to celebrate Jesus´ birth, if we didn´t have presents, we don´t worry because the best gift that night is to be in armony, thanking God for all the blessings of our lifes, our health, our families and the opportunity to be alive.
But I´m seriusly planning a christmas night more private, because it use to be so tired, may be in 2 years.

In my case this time of the year has been changing a lot, when I was a child we always dinner together in my mom house, the next day we visited to my dad's mother in the morning, and in the afternoon to my mom's mom.
ReplyDeleteNow in these days we dinner in my mom houses's, with my brother and my sister, bouth have kids, two form my brother and one from my sister. I'm loving be the indulgent Uncle, and for my job I have the opportunity to give them a nice presents, playing with them is the best part. I hope in the next years when they will be teen, we can play with fireworks, because I love it, these kind of things is the part that I miss.

ReplyDeleteMy grandma make tamales,"pierna" and ponche and we wait until the 00:00 of the 25th, in this time we go for the church at 8 o´clock,later we go to the house of my grandma or to the house of my aunt , in those place we try to play games or talk about anything, at the 00:00 we burn fireworks but this start to end in the last year because the little kids now are young and the think that this tradition is boring (I am talking about myself in this situation XD)..and later we eat the dinner.....and this is the way of how I celebrate the christmas with my family.
